Crohn's Disease

Abstract

Crohn’s disease (CD) is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastro-intestinal tract. This chapter illustrates the typical macroscopic and microscopic pathology appearances of CD. The effect of treatment on these appearances and the main differential diagnoses are also described. The pathological diagnosis of Crohn’s disease can be challenging. Comprehensive clinical, radiological and endoscopic information is vital for the pathologist to reach the correct diagnosis.
