Abstract
Rosa laevigata Michx, or the Cherokee rose in English, is an evergreen climbing shrub, belonging to the Rosaceae family. Rosa laevigata Michx has long been used as herbal medicine for the treatment of a variety diseases. Traditionally, the raw material of this herb came from scavenging in the wild. It is processed into dry fruits (the crude drug, called Jingyingzi in Chinese), tea or wine for clinical usage or dietary supplement. With the increasing commercial demand for this herb, cultured plants have become an important source of supply.
