Abstract
The chapter presents the formation of the Romanian industrial system starting with the nineteenth century until the end of the First World War. The historical context of the development of the Romanian industrial environment is mentioned, the politicians who influenced this development as well as the industrial policies from the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century. The development of the industrial environment is exemplified with numerous statistical data for different industries.
