Psychology and Covid-19 in the Americas

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic mobilized professionals from various disciplines to generate actions for prevention and attention to situations of violence, increased by the confinement resulting from the pandemic. The Interamerican Society of Psychology (SIP), through collaboration agreements, summoned representatives of the Latin American Federation of Psychotherapy (FLAPSI), the College of Psychologists of Colombia (COLPSIC), and the Foundation for Gender and Family Development (GENFAMI) to join efforts to develop the Awareness Campaign “Life Without Violence”. The objective was to sensitize citizens, psychologists, and authorities about the different types of violence that occur in society, focusing on prevention and attention. The results of the first series of webinars entitled “Gender-Based Violence (GBV) psychological perspectives from the regional to the global” are presented, and as a result, the future projections of the campaign “Life Without Violence”.
