Abstract
All-vanadium redox flow battery (VFB) is deemed as one of the most promising energy storage technologies with attracting advantages of long cycle, superior safety, rapid response and excellent balanced capacity between demand and supply. Electrode is a key component for the mass transport and redox reaction in flow battery, directly determining flow battery performance. Up to now, extensive research has been carried out on developing electrode to enhance performance of VFBs, including metal or metal oxide materials modified electrodes and structure decorated or pore etched electrodes. In this chapter, various electrodes and relevant treating methods used for VFBs are overviewed and summarized, providing comprehensive and available instruction to pursue and develop high-performance electrodes for VFBs with high efficiency and long life span.
