Congenital Anomalies of Coronary Arteries

Abstract

Abnormalities of the origin and course of the coronary vessels may be found either associated to complex cardiac malformations or as an epiphenomenon of systemic diseases, like systemic inflammatory diseases and vasculitis.

Understanding the anatomical variations of the coronary tree is vital in directing interventions and surgical repair of many congenital malformations, making good use of the whole array of currently available diagnostic tools, including echocardiography, cardiac catheterization and angiography, computerized tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging.
