Transarterial Chemoembolization (TACE)

Abstract

Transarterial chemoembolization consists in the administration of chemotherapy while a contemporaneous embolization of the tumor’s vascular feeders is performed. This chapter describes the rationale and the historical steps that brought from the first arterial access and catheterization to the creation and successive development of this technique, which is mainly applied to liver’s malignancies.
