Abstract
Chapter 6 is my own story of going into survey research as a career, along with the myriad opportunities that practical survey skills open up for PhDs. I discuss some of the various types of employment for survey researchers – government and government contractors, nonprofits, private companies, politics and elections, media, and alt-academic positions. Then I suggest a few ways to develop skills in survey research, whether you are in graduate school or in an academic position.
