Abstract
The Inclusive Education Framework for Lebanon is proposed in this chapter as a prototype model of the best inclusive educational practices in Lebanese mainstream schools. To employ the model, it is necessary to consider the elaborated rationale behind the new model that emerged based on some solid justifications to progress from special education to inclusive education. The chapter proceeds to specify the goals and aims of the new model as well as its scope. To help users and examiners build on a foundational reference point, further specifics on the concepts and principles underlying the Inclusive Education Framework follow. The subsequent section moves to clarify the need to overcome many existing barriers in the Lebanese context. These barriers range from legislative attitudinal, cultural, language, physical environment, and organization, to curricular barriers. The chapter concludes by highlighting the indicators for the new Inclusive Education Framework to overcome the aforementioned barriers on the macro, meso, and micro levels.
