Abstract
The physical therapy profession is grounded in biopsychosocial principles for patient care, and this approach parallels that needed for learner success. Our educational program prioritizes student success starting with the holistic admissions process. After enrollment, students complete a learning and study strategies inventory to help them develop a growth mindset and a professionalism curriculum. Students meet regularly with a dedicated faculty advisor to monitor the learner’s progress and well-being over time. Learners who struggle are invited to join a formal “learner success” process. Dismissals occur infrequently and, as in all health professions schools, are sensitive and challenging. Further evolution will improve our ability to meet the needs of current and future learners.
