Abstract

A compact multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna for Ultra Wideband (UWB) applications is studied. The presented antenna is characterized by an overall dimension of 31 * 26 * 0.8 mm3. The UWB MIMO antenna is composed of two similar monopole radiating elements with a protruded ground branch structure on the ground plane in order to enhance the adaptation and reduce mutual coupling. Results prove that the presented antenna has a frequency range of 3.1 to 11.12 GHz, mutual coupling between two ports lower than −20 dB, an envelope correlation coefficient less than 0.002, and a maximum gain of about 5.22 dBi.
