Abstract

There is a lack of data currently available about how psychological factors influence compliance and tolerance of noninvasive mechanical ventilation (NIV) in patients with acute and chronic respiratory insufficiency of all causes. Anxiety and depression can interfere with NIV acceptance, but the progression of the disease itself has an inevitable psychological impact.
