Abstract
In ‘Beethoven’s Last Sonata’, Joanna Benarroch, Director of the Office of the Chief Rabbi and now Global Chief Executive of The Rabbi Sacks Legacy, recounts memories of her close working relationship with Rabbi Sacks and the joy he experienced in his personal and professional life. For over 23 years, both during his distinguished tenure as Chief Rabbi and years after he stepped down which he referred to as LP—‘Late Period,’—named after Beethoven’s last sonatas, Rabbi Sacks demonstrated joy that was profoundly connected to music, and on many occasions, he himself brought music to prayer, to schools, and to Israel.
