Abstract
Diverse effects of the monoacyltrehalose (MAT) biosurfactant produced by Rhodococcus ruber on the IL-2, IL-4, IL-17, IFN-γ secretion by splenocyteswere were studied in the in vivo system. The MAT fraction obtained by flash chromatography of the extracted biosurfactant complex from R. ruber IEGM 231 was administered to white mice in three ways: intraperitoneally, intramuscularly and orally. Cytokine IL-2, IL-4, IL-17, IFN-γ immunoassays revealed the ability of MAT to modulate the levels of cytokines produced by immunocompetent cells. It was found that when administered orally, MAT inhibited the production of IL-2, IFN-γ, stimulated the production of IL-4 and had no effect on the IL-17 level. However, with intraperitoneal and intramuscular administration, MAT inhibited the production of IL-2 by splenocytes and did not affect the cellular secretion of IL-4, IFN-γ, IL-17.The data obtained suggest the possibility of T-cell immunity regulation using bacterial trehalolipids.
