Abstract

The anatomy of the hand and upper extremity demonstrates a complex interplay of several different tissue types to create a functional tool that is essential for human activity. Understanding this anatomy is critical when performing an examination of the hand. The aim of this chapter is to provide an overview of the anatomy of the hand that can serve as a learning tool and reference for the reader to better understand the examination chapters to follow.
