Abstract
It is the authors’ opinion that it is no longer a matter of “if” living donation vascularized composite allotransplantation (VCA) becomes a viable option, but rather “when.” In this chapter, the authors review ethical considerations of living donation in VCA by a four-quadrant approach that includes medical indications, patient preferences, quality of life, and contextual features both in the recipient and the living donor.
