Abstract
The chapter deals with the structure of the Indian economy, its specific features, and its position in the world economy. We also characterize its economic potential. The article discusses the stages of India’s socio-economic development, the main sources of its economic development, and changes in the structure of the country’s economy during its period of independence. We also analyse the general characteristics of agriculture, industry, and services in the country, the structure of its fiscal and monetary spheres, and the issues pertaining to development in the social sphere.
