Abstract

This work is a report on a comparison study done in an industry context with the goal to evaluate three different tools meant to model, simulate, and subsequent evaluate business processes as part of business process management and robot process automation effort. The three compared tools are the SAP Signavio Process Manager, the subject-oriented Simple Simulation Tool, and the Process Simulator from GBU mbH. The tools and their simulation approaches are introduced and the results, where applicable, as well as the general handling compared. Each tool has its intended purpose and pros and cons under different given circumstances. The reader is given the understanding to differentiate between the tools in order to evaluate which tool is meeting which requirements.

Notes

  1. 1.

A simulation scenario allows to set different versions for times and costs without having to change the process model itself.
