Abstract
Sixty-three years old female presented with rapidly progressive snoring, sleep disturbance and somnolence. Upon further questioning she reported soreness radiating to right neck and odynophagia. Sleep studies revealed rapidly progressive obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Physical exam was suspicious for oropharyngeal carcinoma. Computed tomography of the neck revealed a mass involving the right base of the tongue. This case illustrates that a careful head and neck evaluation is paramount in the evaluation of patients with OSA, especially when the clinical history may reveal “red flags” that may highlight a malignancy.
