Abstract

Two of the main objectives of having a supply chain risk management (SCRM) implemented include once to be prepared for risks threatening the supply chain and second to have set up a resilient supply chain. To be able to reach those objectives requires the SCRM system to have a certain maturity level. The maturity level measures the degree of professionalism of an SCRM system. Often the maturity level is both described and assessed in a qualitative way for the SCRM system as a whole. Additionally, the maturity level of an SCRM system is hardly ever assessed in empirical surveys. However, the survey conducted by the authors in German-speaking countries in 2020 used a set of 40 questions to derive a both detailed and quantified look at the maturity level of the participants’ SCRM system. This new approach leads to insights that enable targeted improvement of the SCRM system.

Notes

  1. 1.

The number of responses in this evaluation is lower than the number of responses in Fig. 4.2. This is due to the fact that the company size (here as sales) was only recorded at the end of the survey and some participants had already left the survey at this point. Not all responses from Fig. 4.1 could therefore be assigned to a company size.
