Abstract
This commentary on Plews-Ogan’s chapter “Wisdom in Medicine: Growing and changing in the wake of an error” discusses the importance of the psychological impact of negative events that one was, at least to some extent, responsible for. These events may shatter one’s understanding of the self as a good and competent person, which can have many implications on various psychological outcomes, including personal growth.
