Abstract
Clitoromegaly is a relatively rare condition; nevertheless, its occurrence has been increasing due to exogenous hormonal intake among healthy subjects. Treatment for clitoromegaly is mainly surgical, yet clitoroplasty is rarely performed in adults.
We describe a personal technique to treat adult patients with clinical clitoromegaly, clitoral hypersensitivity due to clitoral overexposure, or clitoral ptosis.
Four patients with different clinical presentations from different etiologies illustrate the technique in this chapter. The surgery consists of a single-stage procedure based on a clitoropexy while preserving the dorsal neurovascular bundle. Other procedures can be performed along with the clitoropexy, such as labia minora reduction labiaplasty, labia majora reduction labiaplasty, and labia majora augmentation by autologous fat transplantation, other plastic surgeries, etc.
The postoperative care is no different from any surgical procedure performed in the genital area; the intercurrences that may happen are also inherent to any surgery and are possibly treated without any compromise to the final aesthetic results after all.
With this technique we believe to succeed on achieving a normal genital appearance while preserving sensation with a satisfactory sexual and orgasmic response. It has also shown to be a safe and easily reproducible technique, with adequate aesthetic and sexually functional results, allowing a satisfactory option for treating adult patients with clitoral hypertrophy without compromising the clitoral function.
