Abstract
Receiving bad news, such as the diagnosis of cancer, in addition to being a very particular and challenging moment for patients, triggers a series of negative feelings and emotions, which are often difficult to control. There are numerous protocols for breaking the bad news that are useful to guide healthcare professionals. The main objective of this chapter is to propose a communication protocol based on the international literature and on our clinical experience that can help professionals fulfill the challenging task of disclosing bad news.
