Abstract
Biopsy and histological evaluation are safe and affordable ways to determine the nature, extent, and severity of oral lesions. In this chapter, we review the indications, contraindications, surgical techniques, and care in performing an oral biopsy. We also emphasize the importance of correctly sending the sample to the pathology laboratory for histopathological examination, directing the clinician to the appropriate treatment of these oral diseases.
