Clinical Decision-Making in Oral Medicine

Abstract

Lichen planus is a common chronic mucocutaneous disease that frequently affects the oral mucosa. The etiology of the disease remains unknown; however, evidence in the literature points to an important role played by immune system dysregulation. In this chapter, we highlight the clinical variants of oral lichen planus and suggest diagnostic criteria and treatment guidelines.
