COVID-19 and Society

Abstract

While climate change and global warming are waiting to be on the agenda of the whole world, the COVID-19 virus, which emerged in the city of Wuhan in China, was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization in early 2020. After this declaration, global supply chains were disrupted due to the measures taken by the countries, and the concept of “new normal/next normal” began to be discussed. Since the subject is related to health, diagnosis, treatment, and vaccine research, breaking the chain of infection has first focused on the scientific arena. However, since the effects of the pandemic were much broader and more profound due to its systemic and disruptive impact, the present book you have read was prepared to deal with the subject from a broader perspective by discussing the economic, organizational, and policy implications of the pandemic besides its health impacts.
