Abstract
This chapter is devoted to gears with an elliptical shape of a centrode. The geometry, kinematics, and dynamics of gear drives with elliptical gears are considered. A method of designing elliptical gears is proposed, including the dimensioning of centrodes and determination of the modules and number of teeth depending on the load, rotational speed, and strength of the material that the gear rim is made of. This chapter includes design formulas and diagrams that make the design process relatively easy and quick. Examples of designs and calculations contribute to a better understanding of the proposed method.
