Abstract

Generalized exfoliative dermatitis (GED) refers to diffusely red and inflamed skin with varying degrees of scaling. There are many causes of GED and the most common are exacerbations of a pre-existing benign inflammatory skin disease (such as atopic dermatitis and psoriasis), drug reactions and cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. Sometimes more than one skin biopsy should be done in order to achieve diagnosis and rule out underlying malignancies.
