Abstract
Pediatric rectal injury can occur as a result of penetrating or blunt abdominal/pelvic trauma. The approach to, and management of, rectal injury depends on the precise location and extent of the injury. Knowledge of the anatomy of the rectum and the ability to identify the level of the injury guides management. This chapter provides an overview of the approach to suspected rectal injury in a pediatric trauma patient.
