Abstract

Life provides numerous trials for individuals, as Jesus told his disciples. From biblical times to the current day, complexity has increased dramatically in business, leadership, and life, which has multiplied troubles. Charged with shepherding others, Christian leaders often bear the heavy load of guiding groups and organizations through fast-moving, disorienting, and complex contexts. Therefore, Christian leaders require a healthy and rigorous mindset to persevere and endure uncertain, turbulent, and often messy leadership landscapes. This chapter unpacks the concept of resilience from academic literature, biblical patterns, and the demonstration of a resilience mindset through Joseph’s life in the book of Genesis. Understanding the theoretical, biblical, and practical applications of resilience encourages the heart and helps Christian leaders better run the race set before them.
