Abstract

This chapter focuses on the latest advancements in self-powered systems based on high-voltage TENG and its combination with various smart materials. A comprehensive grasp of the key factors for determining whether the chosen materials or devices can be successfully combined with TENG is also discussed in this chapter. The concept of this chapter and numerous typical examples for utilizing the high voltage of TENG are summarized in the first part of the chapter. We present an in-depth introduction to the successful ways adopted for generating a high voltage of TENG, while the electrically responsive materials and electrostatic devices that can be effectively driven by the TENG, such as dielectric elastomers, piezoelectric materials, electrostatic manipulators, electrostatic air cleaner, field emission/mass spectrometer, plasma source, and electrospinning devices, are discussed in detail in the following sections. Finally, an analysis offers a broader perspective as well as recommendations for future research directions.
