Abstract
The new digital era has forced many of the services within the university context to be offered virtually, including mentoring and tutoring. To respond to this new challenge, TIMONEL was born, a recommendation system (RS) capable of responding to the needs for the university orientation of undergraduates, postgraduates and university graduates. This study analyses the trajectory of the project from the beginning, focusing on its final evaluation phase in which users’ evaluations of the RS are considered. A total of 487 students from the Universities of Jaen and Granada (Spain) and the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra (Portugal) participated. In the results, significant differences can be perceived with respect to gender in the different values, with the male gender being more critical. On the other hand, no significant relationship was seen in the RS evaluations with reference to participation in the Tutorial Action Plan (PAT). Finally, the fact of belonging to one or another university also influences the evaluations made of the RS. In conclusion, the overall positive evaluation suggests the RS is a good university advisory tool.
