Abstract
Persons with blood – injury – injection (BII) phobia have persistent and excessive fear of one or plural of the defined triggers. The high prevalence of fainting is characteristic of the phobia. However, fainting is not always associated with being phobic. Different etiological pathways are discussed. How the phobia is maintained by catastrophic thoughts concerning the anxiety reaction and the triggers involved is highlighted. Also, the chapter will give an example of how BII-phobia may be treated.
