Abstract
Robot-assisted radical cystectomy (RARC) with intracorporeal urinary diversion is increasingly being performed around the world. Adoption of minimally invasive techniques for cystectomy has been driven by the desire to facilitate patient recovery after this major operation. The development of a single-port (SP) robotic platform offers the possibility to further reduce the impact of the surgery. In this chapter, we describe the surgical steps to perform single-port radical cystectomy and intracorporal urinary diversion with ileal conduit, orthotopic neobladder, and continent catheterizable pouch. Although many steps mirror those previously described for multiport surgery, we specifically discuss considerations unique to the single-port platform such as port placement, instrument selection, and camera position. Finally, we highlight challenges associated with the use of the single-port robot and ways to overcome them.
