Abstract

Cavernous sinus meningioma (CSM) presents a management challenge to present-day neurosurgeons as a result of the early involvement of neurovascular structures, the lack of clear tissue planes, and a high rate of surgery-related morbidity. With improvements in surgical techniques, standard treatments have shifted from aggressive microsurgical resection to instead maximal safe resection and use of adjuvant radiotherapy if necessary. As a result, patients generally achieve a better functional outcome. This chapter presents and discusses the current treatment algorithm employed by the authors and the importance of multimodality management for optimal outcome in patients with CSM.
