Abstracts

Understanding cerebrovascular anatomy is necessary for performing and interpreting cerebrovascular ultrasound studies. The current chapter is a quick review of the normal course and appearance of the cerebral vasculature as well as the common anatomical variations. Criteria for the identification of various vessel segments including anterior cerebral artery, middle cerebral artery, posterior cerebral artery and internal carotid artery are discussed. Flow directions of the intracranial arteries with depths of insonation for an average human skull are provided.
