Abstract
Evidence-based practice is the foundation of effective treatment and is associated with maximizing outcomes of intervention for individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. In the field of applied behavior analysis, it has been emphasized for several decades, as there has been increased sensitivity to the use of effective procedures and to the allocation of resources to interventions likely to effect change. In this chapter, evidence-based practice is discussed in the context of autism intervention, common standards are outlined, differing definitions are discussed, and practitioner resources are outlined.
