Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop an understanding of investment risks in the Russian economy, to analyse and assess the current conditions for investing in projects and to substantiate risk management approaches. This article examines the current issues of risk and uncertainty in business investment. Developed a matrix of investment risks based on a survey analysis of small businesses that should be considered when planning business projects in Russia. Based on the risk classification, a risk management architecture for all phases of the business project life cycle is proposed. In order to improve performance an approach to risk management in the current operations of the company is justified including a modified 4W model. It raises questions such as: which unit is responsible for implementing the risk management system, how many employees should be responsible for risk management processes, how often to monitor changes in business processes and which methods to use to assess risks.
