Nerve Entrapment Syndromes of the Lower Limbs

Foot and Ankle Disorders

Abstract

Peripheral nerves can suffer from compression along their trajectories in the lower limbs. This topic is not extensively discussed in literature and is frequently forgotten in the lower limb pain differential diagnoses. Clinical presentation and specific compression syndromes knowledge help with early diagnoses and more effective treatment, decreasing the chance of permanent sequelae. In this chapter, the authors describe lower extremity nerve entrapment syndromes, most common etiologies, appropriate diagnosis, and treatment options.
