Abstract
Adults who may undergo hypospadias-related surgery are classified under three categories: category I is for patients who have undergone multiple surgeries with significant scarring and tissue loss, category II is for adults who have delayed complications after initially successful childhood repair and have adequate healthy tissues, and category III is for adults with no previous surgery. Adults already operated upon are the majority and they may require surgery due to functional or cosmetic dissatisfaction. Common indications for surgery in adults are strictures, residual hypospadias, spraying, fistula, and chordee. Adults in category III usually have distal forms of hypospadias. The principles of surgery and surgical techniques are mostly the same as in children. However, there are tips and tricks that may increase the success rate and reduce complications. The incidence of complications of adult hypospadias surgery is more than in children.
