Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused changes in people habits which were amplified by the lockdown and restrictions taken by many countries in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. These changes had a direct effect on the power system, namely on the operation of facilities and on the power demand. So, in this paper is presented the variation of the power demand in Romania. The power demand is obtained from the data provided by the transmission system operator in Romania (Transelectrica). The variation is presented for the year prior to the COVID-19 pandemic (2019), respectively in the years of the COVID-19 pandemic (2020 and 2021), in comparison with other studies that presented the power demand especially for 2019 and 2020 in different countries. The power demand is presented mainly for the months of March, April and May, considering the fact that Romania was in lockdown during these months of 2020. A comparison of the power demand during these months is also presented.
