Abstract
Healthcare changes rapidly. Clinicians must learn new technologies. The government imposes new regulations and mandates. Our practices move and mature. All of these changes must require attention to the process. If the change is big enough, it is dubbed a project. A project does not organically proceed from concept to completion. Project management is leading the project through defined phases to achieve all project goals within the given constraints. This chapter defines and explores the area of project management. The lessons in this chapter should be utilized to aid and abet clinical informatics leaders in their endeavors to lead informatics projects within health care organizations.
