Abstract

In the process of translating cultural heritage data into linked open data, in particular from multiple sources, heterogeneity of data is a crucial issue. In this paper, our aim is to demonstrate the interest of linked open data and more precisely the IFLA LRM model for the digital representation of Quebec literature, based on data from various perspectives: authors, publishers, and books. We propose an IFLA LRM knowledge base to represent the aggregated data from these heterogeneous sources.

We also extend the IFLA LRM model to take into account important aspects including literary awards, a more detailed description of authors, and book series, as well as interoperability with schema.org. Finally, we evaluate the resulting knowledge base using competency questions obtained from our data providers and show the benefit of data integration.
