Abstract
Ecthyma gangrenosum is an uncommon cutaneous infection usually caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa that occurs in immunocompromised individuals. In this report, we present a male pediatric patient with ulcers on both knees and ankles with pain that cause movement difficulties that resemble pyoderma gangrenosum. Further examination found bacteremia that confirmed the condition as non-pseudomonal ecthyma gangrenosum caused by his immunocompromised state. He also suffered chronic kidney disease stage V, diabetes mellitus type 2, and underweight with poor nutritional status.
