Abstract

In this chapter, Dr. Lunsford discusses his view on the primary rewards of being a neurosurgeon and his 34 year experience as a program director. As a teacher we need to prepare the next generation of surgeons to carry the torch of advancing the specialty. The program director’s responsibilities include guiding potentially interested medical students and then assisting in the selection and training of the optimal candidates for residency.
