Abstract

Vascular injuries to the extremities are associated with devastating outcomes if not identified promptly and managed properly. Vascular insult to an operated extremity can be the result of direct trauma or from iatrogenic injury associated with operative or percutaneous interventions. In this chapter, we discuss the patterns associated with common vascular injuries in the extremities, common procedures associated with iatrogenic injuries to the vessels, and lower extremity outcomes as a result of Resuscitative Endovascular Balloon Occlusion of Aorta (REBOA), and conclude with a discussion of acute compartment syndrome of the extremity.
