Abstract

The use of medical management techniques for the management of anxiety is fundamental to the practice of dentistry. Around 7% of the population are likely to need these techniques for general dental care and a higher proportion for more invasive treatment such as oral surgery. This paper highlights the current expectation of effective and safe practice of conscious sedation techniques in light of recently updated guidance from several UK institutions.
