Abstract

The cervical spine (C-spine) accounts for the majority of all spinal injuries. In the US prehospital setting, patients are often transported using cervical collars (C-collars) and rigid backboards in trauma and when spinal cord injuries are suspected. After airway, breathing, and circulation, every effort must be made to secure the C-spine.
