Abstract

There are three types of nail bed injuries: nail bed laceration, nail bed avulsion, and subungual hematoma (Chap. 104). Not all nail bed injuries require nail removal. But all subungual hematomas require trephination. Knowing nail anatomy is crucial for best result.
