Abstract
Chronic pain is one of the most common and challenging medical problems facing our society nowadays. Spinal cord stimulation (SCS) is a neuromodulation technique that is used to treat chronic pain. One of the techniques of SCS involves the percutaneous implantation of electrodes in the epidural space. It is an adjustable, reversible, and nondestructive treatment for a variety of chronic pain syndromes. This chapter will present the most common indications, discuss strategies to prevent spinal cord stimulator infection, and show details of the procedure and the basic care to obtain success in carrying out the technique.
